Other kits: none
Extra parts: .030 thick sheet styrene plastic from Evergreen for the front end.
.015 think plastic for the grill.
Half Round .060 #241 strips for the grill.
Modifications: My first model of the red Monaro didn't turn out so well. I had the T-tops wrong, the rims were pitiful, and the front grill was awful. Also, I didn't have a good view of the car and the side art was horrendous; not to mention inaccurate. So I tried again. The front end of the Monaro appears to be a total custom, including the hood. Start by cutting out a rectangular piece from the front center of the hood. Then cut and shape a curved piece of plastic (like a half pipe) and fit it into the gap on the hood. Then use putty and sand it down to match. Cut a piece of the .030 thick plastic to fit on the front, and cut out the holes for the grill and the round headlights. To make the grill, cut about 22 matching pieces of the .015 thick plastic in the curved shape of the front panel. The pieces should be bell-shaped. Then, cut about 50 very small squares of the .030 thick plastic. Put all of these together like a sandwich, alternating a flat bell piece and a square at either corner. Then, sand it down to fit the hole for the grill. For the outline of the grill, fit a piece of the Half Round around the border of the grill and glue it in place. Also, glue a piece of the Half Round vertically on the grill. This may take some practice. I made three grills before I was happy with it. Use some large racing tires for the rear wheels. The rear suspension is jacked up, making the cars front lean downwards. Cut out the T-tops on the roof, leaving a thin part in the center. You will also need to glue on a vertical piece on either side of the rear windows to complete the frame of the rear windows. The rims of the vehicle are chrome with no holes in them. Use rubber insulated copper wiring for the exhaust pipes. There are two pipes on either side, and they curve up under the rear of the car, and out facing to the rear (like an S shape). Convert the steering to the right hand side, and that is all.
Paint: The car is Maroon colored with a white roof. Note the flaming skull art on the left hand side of the car. It is ONLY on the left hand side, the right side has no artwork on it. You can paint one on, but I made my own. I searched the net for a good skull picture, then I cut and pasted it onto some flame decals from a Cop Out model. If you want a copy of my flaming skull decal, send me an e-mail.
Any questions, please ask! Good luck and lets see some pics!
