Wreck Warrior's Landau
Wreck Warrior has made a custom Landau, and here is what he had to say about it:
I made it from a 69 Ford Torino; by watching the chase and looking at pictures of the movie car and the Back to the Max
replica. I slowly worked at copying the car as best I could. The first thing was adding the dual rear tires, but the
wheel openings were too low so I widened them, but even then the body didn't sit high enough. Unfortunatly the rear axle
was molded into the frame, so I took a Bic pen and cut it in half, bent it, and glued it over the axle and slid the metal
bar through the gap. This provided enough tire clearance and improved the stance. To help I made a frame to hold the
trunk up away from the back of the chassis. The stock taillights were cut out and an upside down 71 charger taillight
panel glued in place. The tire guards are made from model tree as is the rollbar. The Torino kit also comes with a racing
dashbboard, so I cut up the stock dash and glued the pieces to the race dash. I don't remember where the front or rear
bumpers came from, or the headers on the fenders, but I know that the side pipes are from a revell '66 Malibu kit, the
engine is stock, and the intake setup is made from stuff in my parts box and just glued to the hood. You never really get
to see the interior so I didn't do too much to it. Possible future plans include dirtying up the body.
